Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF), Cambodia

The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) Cambodia (formerly known as CIB) was set up by the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC), with the assistance from the Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF), the Asian Development Bank, and the ASEAN Bankers’ Association in January 2004. The Institute provides international standard yet locally affordable certifications and professionals for members of the Association of Banks in Cambodia and Cambodia Microfinance Associations (CMA), which comprise of commercial banks, specialized banks, and microfinance institutions. IBF Cambodia is the official representative of Cambodia banking institute as a member of the Asian-Pacific Association of Banking Institutes (APABI), whose missions are to promote greater understanding of banking education and training and to promote rapport and cooperation within the industry.  

Since its inauguration and with the on-going support from the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) Cambodia, has been serving over 40,000 fellow banking professionals undertaking local and international certifications, guided by the industry’s competency framework with specifical focus on 3 mandates:

  1. Uplifting the good corporate governance in Cambodia
  2. Standardizing Banking Practice through our country's competency framework and textbooks for the industry and universities in Cambodia
  3. Providing international certifications and short course programs to narrow the industry skills gap and to provide future-ready workforces for the industry
